Attention NTCR Community
We are temporarily closing intake for NON-NTCR cats. Our resources and space are limited. If your cat is not from NTCR, you can contact the shelter or rescue where you adopted them or explore other rehoming options.

For Those Surrendering NTCR Cats
Please do not abandon them or take to other shelters.
If you adopted your cat from NTCR and need to surrender them, please schedule an appointment with us (See link under the Adoption column). We may have a waiting list for openings in our foster homes, so your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for understanding and supporting our mission!

Hello my name is Jafar.  I am an extremely lovable and cuddly boy.  I love nothing more than getting hugs and being carried.  I show this by giving you kisses.  If you look closely you will see that one of my eyes is cloudy.  This is because when I travelled from the shelter in Amarillo, I developed a severe eye infection, that effected both of my eyes and was exposed to the Rhino Virus (Feline Herpes).  About 95% of the cat population carry the virus although with many cats the virus is latent.  Cats coming from shelters are more likely to catch the virus and show symptoms.  The symptoms for me is that sometimes I get a watery eye, and this is treated with eye drops.  One of the side effects of the infection is that I have a permanent cloudy eye which has limited sight.  Please do not worry this does not affect me at all, I run and play like all the other foster kittens.  My favorite toys to play with are bouncy balls or any toy that I can bat round and chase.   I am a very social boy and would need a young cat friend in my new home, however I would really LOVE to go home with my best friend Horace.  Are you the family I get to cuddle with?
