How to Adopt or Visit an NTCR Cat or Kitten.

 

Adoption Process

If you see a cat that you would like to adopt, this is how it's done.

1. Submit application . The application is not a commitment. If you meet the cat or kitten and decide the cat is not a good fit, you are not obligated to adopt the kitty. 

2. Application Approval:  Our adoption counselors carefully consider each cat's needs and aim to ensure that our cats are placed in homes where they will most easily adapt and settle in. If a cat is not a good fit for your home, please know that it is not you. It may be because the cat does not get along with dogs, it is not comfortable around small children, or it might be a special needs cat with its own set of requirements. These are things that are determined when the cats are in their foster homes. We appreciate your interest in adopting our cat(s) and thank you for your understanding. 

For online applications: Once your application is reviewed, an adoption counselor will contact you.

For same day adoptions at our adoption events: If we can't verify the information on your application, we reserve the right to hold the cat until we can verify that information. 

3. Meet the pet: Your application has been approved and a meet-and-greet is arranged to confirm that you and the cat are happy with each other. This is when you can decide that another cat might be more compatible with your family.

4. Interview: This is where the counselor will talk to you about the questions you answered on the application.

5. Sign adoption contract.

6. Pay fee. (Currently $160, but subject to change.) 

7. Congratulations! You may now take your new kitty home.

Adoption Policy and Additional Information

Our adoption fee is $160.00 (Subject to change as expenses rise.)

We will not hold a cat or kitten. 

When there are multiple requests for one animal, we review all applications and make a decision based on the best needs of the cat/kitten and the best fit with the potential adopter. All things being equal, the first application is accepted.

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Show that they can legally have an animal in their home if they rent. (Copy of pet deposit required.)
• Be sure that everyone in the household knows about and is agreeable to the adoption.
• Agree to keep cat/kitten indoors.
• Have a veterinarian or provide information for the veternarian that you intend to use for your new pet.

If your circumstances change, we understand. We ask that you do not abandon your kitty. Please work with us to refoster and find your kitty a new home.
