Shadow is a wonderful boy – very affectionate, cuddly and sweet! He is playful, loves his toys and cat trees for climbing. He was either dumped or left behind in a neighborhood where a kind couple started feeding him. When it got cold this winter, they brought him into their home so he would not freeze. They asked numerous rescues for help over the course of several months, but were turned away because Shadow is FIV positive. If you're not familiar with FIV, it stands for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). It is a virus that is not transmittable to other species and only spread from cat-to-cat via blood - so deep bite wounds. It does not negatively affect a cat's life or lifespan nor does it impact their quality of life. FIV+ cats live 15-20 years, just like FIV- cats. Shadow lives happily and peacefully in my home with other FIV+ and FIV- cats: there is no issue with FIV+ and FIV- cats living together, provided there is no fighting amongst the cats.
