Meet Chairman Meow, Dictator of Love! He is one of the most affectionate cats you will ever meet! (This is also why he is hard to photograph and his photos are extreme close ups or in a kennel.) All he wants is human contact, pets, scratches, and kisses. He came to NTCR with a large puncture wound on his abdomen. Lucky for him, it did not hit any organs. Our awesome vet (shout out to Dr. Meier at All Heart Veterinary) performed surgery to clean and suture the wound. Chairman Meow is all healed up, but his fur still needs to grow back; however, there’s no reason he cannot be adopted. Chairman Meow would be fine with other cats or as an only cat so he can be the center of attention! He has excellent litter box manners and is getting the hang of scratching posts.

He is FIV positive, but if you're not familiar with FIV, it stands for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). It is a virus that is not transmittable to other species and only spread from cat-to-cat via blood - so deep bite wounds. It does not negatively affect a cat's life or lifespan nor does it impact their quality of life. FIV+ cats may have above average dental disease, i.e. need dentals sooner or more often. It's not always true for every FIV+ cat; however, it's really important that FIV+ cats are taken for yearly check-ups at the vet and their teeth are also checked.
