Freckles is an adorable, big guy. He loves people and just wants to be near them. When held, he likes to get as high as possible on your chest. He also likes to lay on you or sit next to you on your couch. He’s playful and loves furry, toy mice.

Freckles is FIV positive, but if you're not familiar with FIV, it stands for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). It is a virus that is not transmittable to other species and only spread from cat-to-cat via blood - so deep bite wounds. It does not negatively affect a cat's life or lifespan nor does it impact their quality of life. FIV+ cats may have above average dental disease, i.e., need dentals sooner or more often. It's not always true for every FIV+ cat; however, it's really important that when FIV+ cats are taken for yearly check-ups at the vet, their teeth are also checked. FIV cats can live with non-FIV cats as long as the cats are not aggressive towards one another.

Freckles used to be an outside cat, which is how he contracted FIV. He's now fully indoors only and quite happy with this lifestyle. He does love windows and looking out at the birds, squirrels and anything interesting happening outside aka "cat TV". Freckles would happy as an only cat or with a companion kitty. He has been in foster homes with dogs and does not like them so, no dogs in his forever home.

If you still see his profile on Petfinder or NTCR's website, he is available for adoption. If it's on another site, please visit northtexascatrescue.com to verify he is still available. If you would like to meet him, please fill out a no-obligation adoption application on NTCR's website. Please complete the application in its entirety including your vet clinic name and phone number. Thank you!
